International DJ JES: Music, Spirituality & Girl Power!

Hard work does not go unnoticed to singer, songwriter and international DJ JES.

During our exclusive interview she innocently joked about her gratifying career, and how it has been “a long time coming” to receive the recognition she deserves for her artistry. Vibe Magazine has named JES one of the Top 10 Female Dance Music acts of 2013. Her Platinum mix CD drops February 17th, and it is the 4th in its series. She has two Billboard #1 singles and currently maintains her weekly Radio show Unleash the Beat.

JES has always been fascinated by the melodies of beautiful music. She grew up in a very musical home in New York City. Her mother performed theater and debuted in commercials. She always kept their home seasoned with many genres of music as well as instrument’s. JES reminisced about pleasant moments of her childhood when she first fell deep in love with music. As a little girl she would sit alongside of her radio and listen to tunes for hours. During our conversation she giggled about how she always memorized every song that spun in rotation on the radio.

At the age of 14 JES responded to an ad in The Village Voice newspaper. Soon after, she won the rare opportunity to record one of her own personal songs at a nearby studio. “I was very lucky when I got a taste of it. After I heard my recorded voice playing through the speakers. It was like a dream come true. I never wanted to do anything else.” She said confidently.

JES is a true inspiration to women all around the world as she proves that dreams do come true. “In the dance world women are fast and getting a lot more attention these days. I’m happy to be apart of that. As a singer and DJ I am always pushing for women.”

JES truly appreciates the experience of creating memorable music for her fans. Her secret to maintaining a healthy lifestyle is her spiritualty. “I do a lot of yoga and meditating. I think you need to do that in this business. I am very sensitive to everything in the world. I try to incorporate that into my music. By writing about my feelings.”
